This week is Family week for Bella's preschool class. We made a poster with pictures of our family that they are hanging in their class this week, and today she came home with a paper she colored about her house. So here's what she said -
My favorite room in my home is - my room
because - it's all green
Sometimes I wonder what goes on in her little mind. Not what I would have thought!
Speaking of what goes on in my kids' minds, tonight Lola and I were reading Flat Stanley. I would read a sentence and then if it had a large word in it, I would make sure Lola understood what it meant. One part talks about the most expensive painting in the whole world.
So I asked -
Lola, do you know what they mean by most expensive in the whole world?
Yeah momma, it means you can't buy it for me.
Too true!
Okay, so on a totally different topic, Bella is finally moving out of her toddler bed into a twin bed. Seeing as how she's as tall now at 3 1/2 as Lola was at 4 1/2, you think we would have done this sooner. Well, better late than never.
She found a bedding set at Target (where else?) that we both fell in love with. I love the retro look to it, and Bella loves the colors and animals. I bought the valance and then went to JoAnn's and got some cream colored fabric to make the valance into drapes. Then I'm going to use some of the leftover fabric with some cute ribbon to make a memo board for her to hang her pictures. Then I'll just have to find some cute little pictures to replace her current ones and I'll be done.
Here's a little sneak peak at the bedding, I'll post pictures of her new room once it's done...I think I may be a bit more excited about it than Bella!
Well, the girls both started school this past week. And what a week it was! Lola is officially a kindergartner, which is so hard for me to believe. Bella is going to preschool two days a week for 3 hours a day.
As Lola said to me on Tuesday, "Momma, you're going to be all by yourself this morning!". Yes, indeed I am...and yes, the time went by just as quickly as I had imagined it would! As wonderful as it was, I really did miss my girls.
I asked Bella after her first day how everything went -
B. "It was great, Momma!"
Me. "Well, what did you do?"
B. "Nothing."
I had to laugh at that, already talking just like a teenager. Ofcourse as the day went on, she told me all about what they did that day.
Lola told me after the third day -
L. "This is hard, Momma!"
Me. "Yes, I know kindergarten can be hard, Lola, but isn't it fun to learn all sorts of new things?"
L. "Oh, no, Momma. Kindergarten isn't hard, it's great, I love it! This going-to-school-every-day thing is what's hard!"
...or rather they did eat it. We had fun today with our sponge and finger painting, especially since the paint was chocolate pudding, yum! Lola did this in preschool last year and so I thought it would be a fun craft for the afternoon.
Now the question is, did they get more pudding on their paintings....
or in their tummies?
Lola starts kindergarten a week from today. Then Bella starts preschool the day after that. Ahhhh! How did I get here so fast? Honestly, those first few months being a parent seem to drag-on-forever. Then all of a sudden here I am with two kids in school. What a bittersweet time for me - I am looking forward to a couple hours to myself two days a week, but I am a bit sad, too. My little girls are growing up!
A friend of mine had a baby boy about a month ago, and so Bella, Lola and I went shopping recently for a baby gift. It was a lot of fun, and hearing the girls say "Awww, look at this!" or "Isn't this sooo adorable?" about baby things was just too darn cute.
They decided on this outfit, and honestly I couldn't agree more - really, how cute is this?
Those little monsters made me want to have another baby myself go find a friend's baby and give them a little hug. I mean, it would never cross my mind to have another child just so I could dress it in cute clothes. (At least not longer than a couple of seconds anyway.) Nope, not me!
Anyhow, those little guys just make me smile, so I decided to add one to our card for the baby. I used some of Lola's tracing paper for monster 'Pete' (his name per Lola) and my cricut for the words.
Now I can get everything put together in a box and mailed off to the new little guy. And even if he's still keeping his parents awake all night, he can look cute while doing it.
I have finally figured out (at 35 no less) that I like change. Change for me is good. I love to change ~
- my hair - long, short, bangs, no bangs, curly, straight, you name it
- decorations in my house - I love simple and clean lines, but love to change up the pillows, window decorations, pictures, picture frame backgrounds, bedding, towels, etc., etc. (I could go on forever for this one)
- purses - I think if I had the money, I would have a new purse every couple of weeks (for now I'll just have to settle for the 75% off clearance section at Target when I really want something new!)
- things on my computer, i.e. my blog
So yes, I have decided on a new blog. I liked amateur momma, but the name never felt 'just right' for me. (Especially when I recently did a google search for that name and most of the hits were lovely, family-oriented web sites, porn - yeah, so not the image I had envisioned.)
I picked time of my life to describe how I am trying to live my life - letting go of little mistakes I've made as a wife and mother, not thinking about how things will be when we have just a little more time, or a little more money, or, or, or...; just enjoying my husband and two girls now. Worms, dirt, pink tutus and all. Yes, those words may describe my girls and what they enjoy playing with right now, but really it's the bigger picture of my life - things may be messy at times, but there is also the upside as well.
