zoo day

We went down to the San Diego Zoo yesterday and had a blast.  The weather was absolutely beautiful, just enough sunshine to keep us warm, just enough of a breeze to cool us down from walking.

The girls absolute favorite animal of the day was the turtle - I think they enjoyed seeing an animal up close, as they would swim right up against the glass.  I loved that they would sun themselves on the logs and look like they were ready to be shot off like a rocket...

I loved seeing the lions, tigers, and bears (oh my!), the baby ducklings, meerkats, and koalas.

the girls highlight of the day...the ice cream!

my new artwork

I recently switched things around in our living room and had a bare wall leftover.  I looked and looked for some artwork, but couldn't find anything that I liked within our budget.  So I decided to let the girls paint me some.  We picked out some colors that matched the valances and they did the rest.  All for under $10, too.  I couldn't be happier, and the girls are so proud to have something of theirs hanging in the living room.

I would just like to say my husband rocks.  Just when I think he couldn't possibly get any better - wham! he proves me wrong once again.

For the past 2 1/2 weeks he has uncomplainingly taken care of our household, the children, shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc., on top of working his job, while I have been down with an awful cold. Yep, he has done crafts with the girls, made cupcakes with them for his mom's birthday, taken them to birthday parties, the park, the library, on walks, played my little pony make-believe for the umpteenth time - just to give me time to rest so I could feel better.

Not only has he done all that, but after I've been up all night coughing and looking like complete heck in the morning, he tells me I'm beautiful.  That my shirt is a gorgeous color on me.  Hands down - best.husband.ever
